Welcome to our website
4-H stands for Head, Heart, Hands, and Health. It is a club for boys and girls ages 9-21 from both the country and from town. This year 4-H celebrates its 99th birthday, and we can proudly say that the founder of 4-H Canada came from Waterloo County. For those of us in Grey County where the Hanover 4-H clubs call our home county, we proudly claim to have the second highest number of 4-H members in all of Ontario, second to Perth County. Hanover has several different clubs availible for kids to enter, such as the sheep club, llama club, and Have a Dream Horse club. The sheep club was founded in 1983 and the llama club was founded in 2006, followed by the horse club in 2010. We blend fun with learning and leadership at each meeting. Our emphasis is putting the 4-H motto “Learn to do by Doing” to use. We try to build self-esteem in the members with encouragement, patients, and support. If needed, we can make arrangements for kids to borrow lambs or llamas to use in the club. Our achievement day is held at the Hanover Fair, but we also encourage members to show their projects at other fairs as well if so desired.

2012 Organization Meeting
Hey, it's that time of year again! The Hanover 4-H Clubs organization meeting is going to be held on April 23, at 7:00 PM. The meeting will be at the Lamlash Hall. If you are interested, please contact the Shelley's for more details. Remember, we have the sheep club, llama club, and horse club that you can join, and later on this year we will also be starting up the judging club once again.
Communications Club Approved
A new club has been approved by 4-H Ontario, and it is coming to the Hanover 4-H clubs first! Nicole Shelley wrote this new club, called the 4-H Communications Club, and we are looking forward to starting it up soon. The Communications Club teaches members the components of public speaking, 1 person and 2 person demonstrations, and impromptu questions. As quoted:
"In every aspect of life, we use our communications skills to talk, teach, understand, and simply communicate with the people around us. Good communication skills are vital, and through the 4-H Communications Club members will learn how to give professional speeches, informative presentations, and work as partners to give an educational demonstration. It also teaches members the valuable skills of leadership and confidence in themselves, creativity, overcoming shyness, and how to connect with an audience in a enthusiastic way."
April 9th will be the first meeting. New members are invited. Please contact for all the information.
